According to CNBC, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, in her annual letter laying out the Google-owned company’s priorities, Youtube will be expanded to help creators capitalize on new technologies like NFTs.

YouTube CEO Wojcicki says the video site has plans to capitalize on Web3
YouTube published CEO Susan Wojcicki’s annual letter on Tuesday, laying out the company’s priorities.
“The past year in the world of crypto, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and even decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) has highlighted a previously unimaginable opportunity to grow the connection between creators and their fans,” Wojcicki wrote.
“We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs while continuing to strengthen and enhance the experiences creators and fans have on YouTube.”
Reportedly, YouTube has been inspired by everything that happens in Web3. It is a hotly debated term on Twitter and represents the next evolution of the internet with regards to blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized platforms. Now, YouTube is planning to dive deeper into podcasting, which will provide another avenue for distribution and promotion.
“As podcast usage continues to grow, we expect it to be an integral part of the creator economy,” Wojcicki wrote.
Currently, Google has been ramping up efforts to compete with TikTok in short viral videos. Therefore, if Youtube has a new direction, partnering with one of the blockchain video platforms will benefit the crypto market.
