World’s largest movie theater chain may accept meme coin Dogecoin

Not long ago, as AZCoin News reported, movie theater giant AMC accepted payments in Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash on top of Bitcoin. And without keeping everyone waiting, the next cryptocurrency that may be supported is Dogecoin. This decision is being considered by AMC CEO Adam Aron and announced on Twitter.

Movie giant AMC is considering accepting Dogecoin

In a Twitter post, Aron asked his followers whether the world’s largest cinema chain should accept the meme coin DOGE.

The results so far are pretty surprising. There are 81,374 votes, and 73.2% of them support this idea. And few of them, 12.7%, think that adding DOGE as a new payment option would be “a waste of effort.”

The question comes less than a week after Aron announced that AMC would start accepting Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin for movie tickets alongside Bitcoin by the end of 2021.

Due to its incredible recovery, Dogecoin has made significant strides in terms of merchant adoption, with major companies like Newegg and SpaceX also weighing in. In May, Tesla CEO Elon Musk used a Twitter poll to determine if his followers wanted the e-car maker to accept Bitcoin knockoffs.

Although the “Yes” option received 78.2% of the vote, Tesla has yet to accept Dogecoin after unexpectedly halting Bitcoin payments due to climate-related concerns.

At present, along with the decrease of the market price, DOGE price has not shown a significant increase. This coin meme is currently trading at $0.2, down 14% over the past seven days.
