What is Civic (CVC)?

Civic (CVC) is an identity platform that provides reliable verification of decentralization in accordance with world laws and regulations. The purpose of the Civic project is to build an ecosystem to make it easy, safest and extremely low cost to access identity verification services required by customers via Blockchain.

Civic is a personal identity verification protocol that uses distributed ledger technology to better manage digital identities. For blockchain projects focused on supply chain management for consumer products, Civic is a safer, cheaper, more effective method of identity verification for individuals and industries across the globe.

How does Civic work?

Civic’s network consists of three different but interdependent individuals: users, validators, and service providers. Users who want to use the protocol to register their identities and Civic make this easy and secure with the Secure Identity app.

The validator is responsible for verifying the authenticity of the identity on the distributed ledger of blockchain. They can then sell this information to service providers who need to verify the identity of their customers, exchanging data for CVC. Civic is built on the Ethereum blockchain and uses smart contracts to oversee data validation and payments for this work.

What is CVC token?

CVC tokens are digital assets used in the Civic platform for the following activities:

  • Rewards encourage users to use identifiable information
  • Reward the party that confirms the accuracy of the identity information
  • Used to pay for service activities provided by Civic or its partners.

Vinny Lingham – Co-Founder & CEO
Vinny is a serial entrepreneur who previously founded the digital gift card platform, Gyft, acquired by First Data Corporation in 2014. After more than a decade of e-commerce experience, he realized that no-one had a universal solution to tackle identity fraud for consumers.

Jonathan Smith – Co-founder & CTO
Jonathan has over 15 years of experience in banking and technology consulting. After a successful career in a number of complex and sensitive security environments, Jonathan brings his talent in technology leadership, innovation and transfer to the world of digital identification.

Chris Hart – COO
Chris is a collaborative and business partner leader with nearly 20 years of senior IT and finance experience, most recently CFO at Guidebook, Inc. and Nextag, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Philosophy from Emory University and an MBA in Finance from the University of San Francisco, where he graduated summa cum laude.

JP Bedoya – Product & design VP
JP has over 15 years of experience developing and designing consumer and enterprise products. He was previously a product design manager at The Climate Corporation, overseeing product experience and user research and product VP at LifeLock, where he oversaw consumer products, new member acquisition, and new product development.
