Unstoppable Domains and Polygon Labs Partner to Launch .polygon Domain

Unstoppable Domains, a decentralized domain name service provider, has partnered with Polygon Labs to launch the .polygon domain on March 14th. According to Unstoppable Domains, the .polygon domain makes it easier to send funds on the Polygon blockchain through applications linked to this domain name service.

The .polygon domain allows the Polygon community to demonstrate their support for the most widely used Ethereum scaling solution with a user-owned digital identity. By owning a .polygon identity, the Polygon community and developer ecosystem can signal their support for Polygon, which hosts some of the biggest Web3, DeFi, and NFT projects. Additionally, .polygon domains give individuals a digital identity they fully own, which can be used in various applications such as gaming and DeFi.

With the introduction of .polygon, 0xPolygon is furthering its commitment to giving its community access to user-owned digital identity. Dapps in the Polygon ecosystem can build a community and deepen their relationships with users through .polygon domains. Like all Unstoppable domains, .polygon domains are integrated with 750 apps, games, and metaverses. Polygon dapps can join Unstoppable’s community of 750 integrated apps by adding Login with Unstoppable and integrate Unstoppable’s API to distribute .polygon domains.

Sanket Shah, Vice President and Head of Development at Polygon Labs, shared his thoughts on the product, stating that “Web3 domains will provide our community with a digital identity that they fully own, enabling them to log into dapps without giving away personal information and transact with crypto without long wallet addresses.”

Unstoppable Domains is a competitor of Ethereum Name Service, a platform that provides domain names as NFTs. Users can create custom domain names and use them permanently. Currently, Unstoppable Domain allows users to create domains with extensions such as “crypto.”, “.nft”, “.bitcoin”, “blockchain”, “.wallet”, “.x”, “.zil”, “.dao”, and “.888”. Owning a .polygon name could prove to be a valuable asset in the future, as more applications and dapps are developed on the Polygon blockchain.
