Twitter Account of Uniswap Creator Hayden Adams Hacked, Spreads Malicious Links
On July 20, the Twitter account of Hayden Adams, the mastermind behind the decentralized exchange Uniswap, was compromised by hackers. This breach has raised concerns among the cryptocurrency community as some tweets posted from the hacked account contained malicious links.
The Uniswap Foundation quickly responded to the security breach by alerting the public: “Hayden’s account has been hacked. Do not click on any links within these tweets or similar tweets that may follow.” The potential danger of these malicious links prompted immediate action to warn users and prevent further harm.

One specific tweet among the malicious posts lured users with a promise of a new solution called “UniswapX,” allegedly offering UNI tokens. The tweet directed users to access a registered website in Russia, which raised suspicions among those who noticed it.
Although the initial alert from Uniswap Foundation was taken down swiftly, some adjacent tweets continued to harbor deceptive links, causing further apprehension within the community. It remains critical for Uniswap users and followers of Hayden Adams to remain vigilant and avoid clicking on any suspicious links.
Approximately 30 minutes after the incident, Hayden Adams personally confirmed that his Twitter account had been restored to his control. He tweeted, “In control of my twitter again 🫡. Appreciate everyone who helped out tonight, and the effort people put in to help with takedowns, warnings, etc. Will follow up with updates when ready.”

Despite the account restoration, there are lingering concerns about the motives of the hackers and the potential fallout from their actions. The incident comes on the heels of another incident where the founder of Uniswap was impersonated, leading to a faux “summit” for the Chinese community at the beginning of the previous month.
Cybersecurity has become a growing concern in the cryptocurrency space, and this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adopting robust security measures, not only for individuals but also for projects and platforms within the crypto ecosystem.
