In a recent interview with a local news outlet, Draper said that the cryptocurrency industry has been booming in recent years and that the country should take advantage of this by embracing Bitcoin. He stated that the country could benefit from the utilization of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in order to combat corruption.

The billionaire met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe Tuesday to pitch bitcoin adoption, Bloomberg reported, adding that he then visited the Sri Lankan central bank the next day with the same pitch.

“Blockchain technology would enable an incredibly transparent system of governance, and all transactions would be public. This would make it much harder for corrupt politicians and officials to hide their actions,” said Draper.

He believes that by accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment, the country could attract more businesses and entrepreneurs from around the world. This would ultimately help to create more jobs and opportunities for the people of Sri Lanka.

In addition, Draper believes that the country could benefit from Bitcoin’s low-cost transactions. By allowing people to send and receive money quickly, cheaply, and securely, the country could improve its overall economic situation.

Draper concluded by saying that he believes that the country should take advantage of the current opportunities in the cryptocurrency industry in order to improve the quality of life for its citizens. He stated that the Sri Lankan government should be open to the idea of digital currencies and blockchain technology in order to better serve its people.
