This is how much you would get if you invested $1,000 in the top 4 cryptocurrencies this year

2021 is generally a bright year for the cryptocurrency market. Among them, the most prominent are Bitcoin and Dogecoin (DOGE), two prominent coins that have made many people millionaires overnight. The market capitalization also quickly surpassed $3 trillion, making NFT tokens more accessible to the masses. The question here is, do you regret not having time to invest in these names? And if you have an investment, and invest $ 1,000 in four popular coins, BTC, ETH, Solana (SOL), and DOGE, how much money will you have in your hand now?

#1: Bitcoin (BTC)

  • Price on January 1st: $29,290
  • Price on December 28: $47,795

A $1,000 investment in Bitcoin at the beginning of the year at $29,290 will give you 0.034 BTC, or $1,632 at $49,150. BTC has had a strong 2021, with its value up about 65% from January 1 to the end of December. In February, it hit a $1 trillion market cap for the first time, but then dropped to nearly $900 billion.

#2: Ether (ETH)

  • Price on January 1st: $730.3
  • Price on December 28: $3,816.67

ETH has grown over 400% in the past 12 months. A purchase of $1,000 worth of ETH on January 1st at $730.30 would now have you around $5,226.16 at $3,816.67. Ethereum advocates say the blockchain will become more scalable, secure, and sustainable after the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade, expected in 2022, during which the network will transition to Proo-of-Stake (PoS). The move to PoS will allow miners to validate transactions according to the number of coins they hold, instead of today’s energy-intensive mining rigs.

#3: Solana (SOL)

  • Price on January 1st: $1.53
  • Price on December 28: $181.18

If you had invested $1,000 in SOL in early 2021, when it cost $1.53, your investment would have grown to about $118,418 at a price of $181.18. Despite only launching in 2020, Solana (SOL) has grown by more than 13,800% in the past year and is now the 5th largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of over $57 billion. Solana is considered a competitor to Ethereum. Its founder, Anatoly Yakovenko, designed Solana to support smart contracts, and create dApps.

#4: Dogecoin (DOGE)

  • Price on January 1st: $0.0056
  • Price on December 28: $0.18

If you bet $1,000 on DOGE at the beginning of the year at $0.0056, now your investment would be worth $32,142. This is not a bad investment for a token that started out as a meme-inspired joke. This coin meme has increased by as much as 12,000% in the first half of 2021. However, the value of DOGE has decreased in the second half of the year.
