The largest supermarket chain in Croatia has begun accepting XRP in its online store
According to a December 1 report by Zagreb-based newspaper 24sata, the largest supermarket chain in Croatia, Konzum has started accepting XRP and other cryptocurrencies in its online store.
XRP is becoming mainstream in Croatia because of Konzum
Konzum is the largest supermarket chain in Croatia, established in 1957. Other supported cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), XRP, Stellar Lumen (XLM), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), as well two stablecoins, Tether (USDT) and DAI.
Konzum partnered with Croatian fintech company Electrocoin to use its PayCek system to facilitate cryptocurrency payments. Shoppers can now purchase groceries, toiletries, household goods, and other items using the cryptocurrencies mentioned above.
They spent several weeks testing the service before rolling it out in the run-up to Christmas. Cryptocurrency payments will also gradually be available in Konzum physical stores around the country.
The company will start with 60 sites with self-testing. After that, new payment options will be introduced in 630 stores of all sizes across Croatia.
