The Graph and Coinbase collaborate to support the launch of Base testnet, promoting open crypto ecosystem

The Graph Foundation has announced the integration of a new network, Base, which is a layer 2 incubated by Coinbase. Base aims to establish an open crypto ecosystem for third-party wallets, dapps, and developers. The Graph supports web3 developers and data consumers with subgraphs, which are open APIs that efficiently organize data and plug into applications, seamlessly serving the data to user interfaces. With this integration, developers can build applications on Base testnet, deploy smart contracts, and record data emitted by those smart contracts using subgraphs.

The Graph is among Coinbaseā€™s collaborators supporting the launch of the Base testnet. The Graph solves the inherent need to index data in the creation of L2, as it has with countless existing dapps, protocols, and chains in the web3 ecosystem. Many of the web3 projects that will be supporting Baseā€™s launch are already using The Graph.

The Graph is supporting Baseā€™s testnet starting from day one. Developers can build a subgraph indexing Base testnet data and deploy it using Subgraph Studio. ETHDenver is one of the first hackathon opportunities where hackers can begin building Base dapps powered by subgraphs. The Graphā€™s support of Base testnet also lays the foundation for full support across Subgraph Studio and The Graph Network when Base mainnet goes live.

Base is secured by Ethereum and built on the OP Stack in collaboration with Optimism. In addition to relying on subgraphs for data organization, Base has tapped into a broad ecosystem of open web3 protocols and infrastructure. The Graph makes it easy for developers building on Base to serve Coinbaseā€™s 110m+ users with fast and responsive dapps whose front ends load in milliseconds. As Base progresses from testnet to mainnet, it aims to progressively decentralize and become more interoperable across a variety of chains and L1 ecosystems.

The Graph and Base make it easier to build a web3 that is fast, resilient, and more accessible to a new generation of visionaries who are improving the world with decentralized technology. Developers can begin building Base testnet dapps with data organized by subgraphs starting today, and start querying efficiently organized Base data with subgraphs by following along in the documentation.
