New partnership will see ADA being accepted at over 1,200 major online retail brands including Nike, Amazon, Starbucks, and Airbnb

According to an announcement on August 25, EMURGO, a founding partner of the Cardano (ADA) protocol, stated it had entered into a strategic partnership with Canadian payment processor Bidali to tap its digital currency payment solutions.

The new partnership will see ADA acceptance at more than 1,200 major online retail brands

The partnership with Bidali will see Cardano’s native digital currency, ADA, being accepted at around 1,200 major online retail brands, including Amazon, Nike, Starbucks, Airbnb, and others through the platform. Bidali’s online gift card.

The alliance allows ADA holders to access Bidai’s gift card website and partner ecosystem – including some exchanges and wallets – to purchase branded retail gift cards through the ADA. This partnership is in line with EMURGO’s vision of promoting Cardano ADA adoption globally.

Notably, the partnership with Bidai comes just a few weeks after BTCManager reported another development where EMURGO announced a partnership with OTA Travala, allowing ADA holders to book over two million accommodations across the globe through Cardano’s digital currency.

Commenting on the development, Ken Kodama, CEO, EMURGO, noted:

“EMURGO is delighted to increase the real-world utility of Cardano ADA and give ADA holders the option to purchase products from a wide spectrum of some of the world’s most well-known brands. We are happy to support Bidali and platforms, adding to the Cardano ecosystem with our resources.”

Erik Ashdown, Vice President of Growth, Bidali, has a similar opinion.

He said:

“Cardano is an up-and-coming project. As we’ve seen blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies develop, Cardano is third generation technology that is now finally getting us closer to the performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness required to bring the benefits of cryptocurrency to the mainstream and begin to solve some enormous global problems. We’re very excited to be applying this towards the gift card space where fraud and lack of traceability are huge problems.”

After successfully launching its highly anticipated Shelley upgrade, Cardano has been spreading his wings to accelerate the adoption of his native currency. Besides, a Cardano-Shopify integration is in works to enable ADA payments at more than 500,000 online stores.
