Mirror Launches Subscribe to Mint: A New Way for Creators to Engage with their Web3 Communities

Mirror, a popular web3 publishing platform, has just launched Subscribe to Mint, a new feature that aims to help creators engage with their collectors and transform them into an active and engaged community. This new tool works similarly to an open edition drop, but with a unique Mirror-native twist. In order to mint, a collector needs to subscribe to a creator’s Mirror publication with their email, creating a communication channel that allows creators to engage with their collectors on a recurring basis.

Subscribe to Mint is an extension of Mirror’s web3-native publishing features, such as web3 subscriptions and Writing NFTs, making it a more powerful tool for creators and their projects. The idea is to provide creators with a sustainable way to engage with their audience and activate and retain them post-drop.

During a recent pilot of the feature, Subscribe to Mint was proven successful by several large and small projects across web3. Optimism gathered 334k subscribers with a collectible celebrating their accomplishments last year, while Base gathered 222k subscribers commemorating the historic collaboration between Base and Optimism with a drop. UFO also gathered 8k subscribers with a genesis pass for their podcast listeners.

Subscribe to Mint has two main use cases: the genesis drop and the collectible series. A genesis drop involves a collectible NFT featuring the project’s logo or mascot that pairs with the launch announcement of a new web3 project. This initial spark of interest can be fanned into a durable flame of engagement with a project’s audience through newsletter updates and subsequent drops. On the other hand, the collectible series gives projects the opportunity to strengthen community engagement on a recurring basis. New followers would have a consistent incentive to sign up as subscribers by participating in recurring drops.

In addition to web3 subscriptions, Subscribe to Mint also works with Writing NFTs. This means that a project’s posts on Mirror can be collected by the audience it bootstraps on Mirror via a genesis NFT campaign. For instance, UFO, a web3 podcast, has been a pioneer in this area, with each of their posts selling out and raising an average of 0.5 ETH after a Genesis Pass drop that netted almost 8,000 subscribers.

Subscribe to Mint is completely free to use for creators. They can set a price for their NFT, and if they do, they receive 100% of the proceeds. To sustain the development of their tools, Mirror charges a small flat fee per mint to collectors.

To celebrate this announcement, Mirror is dropping its own genesis NFT, Mirror Genesis, and making Subscribe to Mint available in community beta for the next two weeks, accessible only to Mirror Genesis NFT holders. Mirror is also inviting a few community members to participate in the launch by sharing three drops from a diverse group of Mirror projects, including Zerion Subscriber OGs, Invest in Music Pass, and Safe Stone from Safe, the most trusted platform to manage digital assets on Ethereum.

In conclusion, Subscribe to Mint is an exciting new feature that aims to provide creators with a sustainable way to engage with their audience and transform them into an active and engaged community. By providing a communication channel for creators to engage with their collectors on a recurring basis, Subscribe to Mint expands on Mirror’s hallmark web3-native publishing features, making it an even more powerful tool for creators and their projects.
