Mike Novogratz: NFTs will outperform cryptocurrencies in 2022; Disney is seeking to hire an NFT staff

Entertainment giant Disney is looking to hire a business development executive who will help lead them into the NFT space.

A new job posting shows Disney seeking an NFT expert

“You will help lead Disney’s efforts in the NFT space, including monitoring the evolving marketplace, setting category strategy, and managing key partners,” they stated.

Whoever is hired for the above position will be responsible for “monitoring the evolving marketplace,” strategizing for new business opportunities, and negotiating key partnerships. The Burbank, California-based company is specifically looking for a sales executive with expertise in the NFT sector.

Former Disney CEO Bob Iger recently told The New York Times that there would be an explosion in the popularity of NFTs, claiming that things don’t have to be physical in this day and age. “And as long as that meaning can be essentially substantiated in a blockchain, I think you’re going to see an explosion of things being created, traded, collected in NFTs,” they added.

Iger, however, voiced his concerns about rampant piracy within the NFT space. Iger complained about seeing NFTs being “poached” on the OpenSea marketplace. Last October, Disney partnered with Gochain-based NFT exchange Veve to promote its Disney+ streaming service with the help of a collection of digital collectibles called “Golden Moments.”

Speaking of Disney’s potential entry into the metaverse, Iger predicts that monitoring “toxic” behavior is likely to be a significant challenge. Walmart, YouTube, and Meta are among the biggest companies exploring NFT and Web3.

Mike Novogratz expects NFTs to outperform crypto in 2022

According to Mike Novogratz, boss of Galaxy Digital, NFT tokens will outperform crypto by 2022.

The billionaire recently predicted that the crypto market would continue to struggle to regain composure if US stocks continue in a downtrend. “Crypto will have a hard time rallying until stocks find a base,” he stated.

Novogratz said that the NFT market was overheated in October, urging buyers to remove some chips from the table. However, this is not the case, and the sector continues to grow despite uncertainty in the broader crypto market.

According to data provided by Norwegian crypto analytics company Dune Analytics, daily trading volume on the OpenSea marketplace hit $247 million on Feb. In early November, Novogratz purchased a CryptoPunk for around $440,000 in Ethereum while announcing the launch of Galaxy Digital’s NFT collection.

Global brands like Walmart are also looking to be part of the NFT fund.
