Japanese ATMs are about to start offering XRP via Money Tap – Ripple settlement solution

Ripple partner and investor SBI Holdings revealed plans to integrate Ripple-powered settlements across ATMs in Japan. The goal, of course, is to increase accessibility and ensure that more users take advantage of cryptocurrency. This will be done via Ripple’s feature called “Money Tap” which ensures that users can scan QR codes to send and receive XRP from their iOS and Android mobile devices.

Just to refresh your memory, MoneyTap launched in October 2019 on iOS and Android. This system facilitates instant money transfers via QR Code or phone number. It was set up to offer a mobile app to enable 24/7 bank-to-bank payments in Japan, where the primary settlement network only operates during banking hours. It also aims to offer cross-border remittances.

In addition, SBI Holdings says this will also reduce costs associated with running ATMs:

“Currently, each bank has an ATM with its own bank app, but with a common web app, the same ATM may be used as its own jointly operated multi-bank ATM.”

The integration is intended to provide consumers with easier access to funds at ATMs regardless of their banking affiliation.

The San Francisco-based company has been working really hard in order to boost the complete XRP ecosystem but also to drive the mainstream adoption of XRP as well.
