Humanity Protocol on Polygon CDK Sets a New Standard for Web3 Identity Verification

In a groundbreaking move towards advancing user privacy and accessibility in the Web3 space, the Human Institute, in collaboration with Animoca Brands and Polygon Labs, has unveiled the Humanity Protocol on Polygon CDK. This innovative protocol introduces cutting-edge palm recognition technology as a privacy-preserving alternative for verifying individuals in Web3 applications.

Founded by tech entrepreneur Terence Kwok, Humanity Protocol is steered by a council of Founding Humans, including Yat Siu, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands, and Sandeep Nailwal, Co-founder of Polygon Labs. The protocol leverages palm recognition technology, making it a less invasive alternative to conventional biometric methods like iris scans. This technology, easily accessible through smartphones, establishes Proof of Humanity in Web3 applications, ensuring secure and user-friendly identity verification.

Animoca Brands has been a crucial partner, contributing to ecosystem growth and providing guidance on Web3 best practices, with a focus on digital property rights. The integration with Polygon CDK enhances scalability and efficiency, solidifying Humanity Protocol’s position as a leader in identity verification within the Web3 landscape.

The user-centric approach of palm recognition, seamlessly integrated into the blockchain, emphasizes simplicity, prioritizing optimal accessibility for individuals engaging with Web3 applications. This inclusive approach aligns with Humanity Protocol’s commitment to providing an intuitive and welcoming experience for users.

The protocol’s zkEVM Layer-2 blockchain, fortified by zero-knowledge cryptographic proofs, ensures network security. The Proof of Humanity (PoH) consensus mechanism, coupled with a decentralized validator node network, establishes genuine sybil resistance. This pioneering fusion opens the door to a diverse array of applications, ranging from on-chain games and Decentralized Social Media (DeSO) to enterprise DeFi solutions, Faridrops, Network States, Real World Assets (RWA), and Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePIN) systems.

Yat Siu, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands, highlighted the importance of non-invasive biometrics in building a user-centric ecosystem. He stated, “Humanity Protocol is building a user-centric ecosystem that can onboard millions to a verifiable digital identity solution that is truly decentralized and respects the principles of true digital ownership, in the process enabling better equity and inclusion for all participants.”

Sandeep Nailwal, Co-founder of Polygon, commended the protocol’s sybil resistance and native integration of verifiable credentials, stating, “Humanity Protocol lays the foundation for a wide variety of blockchain and real-world applications to be built on top.”

As the Humanity Protocol Testnet prepares for launch, users will soon have the opportunity to onboard and start earning rewards. The Proof of Humanity feature ensures unique-human authentication mechanisms, providing users with complete ownership over their data and identity. Positioned as the human layer for Web3, Humanity Protocol aims to onboard the first billion humans onto the blockchain, marking a significant milestone as Web3 approaches one billion wallets created.
