Gangnam Kidnapping and Murder Case: Suspects Handed Over to Prosecution

In a shocking turn of events, the Seoul Suseo Police Station has announced the end of its two-week long investigation into the “Gangnam Kidnapping and Murder” case. The police have handed over all seven suspects to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, where the investigation is expected to continue.

Yoo Sang-won (51) and Hwang Eun-hee (49), who were initially charged with robbery and murder, have had their charges changed to co-principals in the crime. The police have added preliminary murder charges against five individuals, including Yoo Sang-won, Hwang Eun-hee, Lee Kyung-woo (35), Hwang Dae-han (36), and Yeon Ji-ho (30). Lee Kyung-woo’s wife, who is suspected of aiding and abetting robbery and violating the Narcotics Control Act, has also been sent to the prosecution.

The police have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspects’ conspiracy and preparation to kill the victim’s husband since the initial arrests on April 9th. However, the whereabouts of the victim’s cell phone and withdrawal of virtual currency have yet to be disclosed. The police believe that specific details may risk the destruction of evidence, but the prosecution’s investigation is expected to reveal more facts.

According to reports, on March 29th at 11:46 pm, Hwang Dae-han and Yeon Ji-ho forcibly picked up Mr. A in their car while he was returning to his apartment in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu. They took away four cell phones and a bag containing 500,000 won in cash from the victim before moving to Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, and delivering a mobile phone and bag to Lee Kyung-woo. It was revealed that Lee Kyung-woo then met Yoo Sang-won at a hotel in Yongin.

The suspects were allegedly attempting to steal coins from Mr. A’s virtual currency account, but additional confirmation is required to determine if the coins were actually transferred. The victim’s cell phone is still missing, with the latest statement indicating that Lee Kyung-woo’s wife was responsible for disposing of it.

The police have accused Hwang Dae-han and Yeon Ji-ho of murdering Mr. A for money and burying him secretly near Daecheong Dam in Daejeon. Yoo Sang-won and Hwang Eun-hee are also suspected of being behind the incident due to their common-law relationship with Lee Kyung-woo. The suspects allegedly invested in virtual currency together, purchasing P Coin worth 100 million won from the victim and investing 3 billion won in P Coin through a block deal.

The “Gangnam Kidnapping and Murder” case has shocked South Korea, and the investigation has revealed the darker side of the virtual currency industry. As the prosecution continues its investigation, we can only hope that justice will be served for the victim and his family.
