First Trial of Do Kwon Scheduled for May 11 in Montenegro Court

Montenegro prosecutors have prosecuted Do Kwon and Han Mo for forgery of official documents and referred them to trial, with the first hearing set to take place on May 11. The news was reported by local daily Pobeda on April 21.

The prosecution had requested an extension of the detention period for the two individuals, which was approved by the local court due to concerns about the possibility of flight. Do Kwon was detained on March 23 at the Podgorica Airport while attempting to leave for Dubai, United Arab Emirates using a Costa Rican counterfeit passport.

As the two individuals were indicted and handed over for trial in Montenegro, it is highly likely that their extradition to Korea or the United States will be delayed for a considerable period of time.

Foreign media outlets have reported that if Do Kwon is extradited to Korea, he may face a possible sentence of about 40 years. If he is extradited to the United States, it is known that he could be sentenced to up to 100 years or more.

The alleged forgery of official documents is a serious crime that can carry severe consequences. The prosecution of Do Kwon and Han Mo underscores the importance of adhering to the law and upholding the integrity of official documents.

As the trial date approaches, it will be interesting to see how the case unfolds and what the outcome will be. The legal proceedings will likely be closely watched by both local and international media, and the case may have implications beyond just the individuals involved.
