CCID Research Institute published its 19th cryptocurrency ranking, that EOS remains top of the overall ranking

The blockchain-powered by the designated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus algorithm – EOSS – firmly holds onto the first spot. The two cryptocurrencies have a total index of 148.4 points and 137.1 points, respectively.

IOST has shown continuous improvement in the CCID Global Ranking with its latest ranking that placing IOST at 3rd one step higher than its previous ranking. IOST replaced TRON in the 3rd position with 111.9 points, and TRON only gets 87.3 points.

The release is a comprehensive consideration and ranking of 37 global well-known public chains from the technical dimension. The ranking model for each project is based on three main aspects which are: Basic Technology, Applicability, and Innovation/Creativity. Basic Technology is based on each project’s features, performance, safety, and decentralization.

Applicability is based on Node Deployment, Wallet Application, Development Support, and Application Implementation. IOST has 20.3 points, while the top 3 projects in that list are ETH with 29.8 points, TRON with 28.4 points, and Nebulas edging NEO to the third position with 27.8 points.

IOST’s creativity is still very poor with just 2.8 points compared to the top creative projects BTC with 43 points, ETH with 30.3 points, Lisk, and Litecoin shared the 3rd position with 23.4 points. Creativity is checked in terms of the project’s innovation based on Developer’s Scale, Code Influence, and Code Update.

Tron, on the other hand, slipped two spots below Ethereum and IOST after holding onto second place for over a year. TRX has been mostly staying under the radar for the past few months, and its pivot to DeFi was largely left unnoticed.

Bitcoin is still struggling to crack the Top 10. Out of 37 cryptocurrencies on the list, it only occupies 14th place, one spot above XRP. The Bitcoin Cash is only the 30th best cryptocurrency.

The organization evaluates blockchain projects based on their tech, applicability, safety, and level of decentralization, but the validity of its methodology has been questioned by industry experts.

The rankings are compiled by the CCID (Qingdao) Blockchain Research Institute, an entity established by the CCID. The evaluation work is carried out in collaboration with several organizations, such as the CCID think tank and the China Software Evaluation Center.

The center previously explained:

“The result of this assessment will allow the CCID group to provide better technical consulting services for government agencies, business enterprises, research institutes, and technology developers.”
