During a cyberattack on Mailchimp, Yuga Labs’ account was exposed but NFTs are safe

Mailchimp has disclosed that it was the target of a hack that gave Yuga Labs’ account access. The NFTs themselves, however, are secure, according to Yuga Labs.

A recent data breach at the email marketing and platform Mailchimp resulted in the account of Yuga Labs being compromised. On January 19, a tweet about the incident was sent by the well-known NFT firm, which also runs Bored Ape Yacht Club, Meebits, CryptoPunks, and other websites.

Yuga Labs acknowledged that it had only sometimes and “for limited purposes” used the service, but out of caution, it wished to disclose the information. “An unauthorized actor may have accessed data in our account,” they did admit. It doesn’t seem like any data was exported, though.

Additionally, Yuga Labs disclosed that the Mailchimp account’s data only came from a small-scale email campaign. It was unrelated to the actual minting of NFTs.

The business informed the neighborhood that it would only get in touch with pertinent people using a Yuga Labs email account if they thought their data had been affected. They highlighted the need for consumers to utilize caution.

The compromise was discovered by Mailchimp security to have happened on January 11. It started acting shortly after and informed people impacted the next day. Numerous customers were impacted in total.

Mailchimp has been compromised before; in fact, this is the second time in the last six months. The accounts that were impacted primarily dealt with bitcoin and finance the first time around, when the attacker gained access using social engineering. These kinds of covert assaults on the cryptocurrency sector are frequent. As a result, participants in the area caution users to be wary of dubious emails or direct messages.

Yuga Labs has continued to advance its goals in the NFT sector with several fresh developments. According to information recently released by the corporation, all owners of BAYC and MAYC will receive a Sewer Pass as a free claim.

Dookey Dash, an endless runner game that requires users to possess a Sewer Pass, was also made public by the firm. Naturally, sales of the project increased immediately after the announcement. The Sewer Pass NFT collection raised over $6 million in just a few hours.
