Dan Larimer is resigning from his post as the CTO of the development company Block.one, EOS price down 22% for the day
At press time, Bitcoin was down more than 11%, trading around $ 35,802. Bitcoin’s decline has caused the altcoin market to decline. However, with the more than 22% decline in EOS price, it is a different story.

Dan Larimer will resign as CTO of development company Block.one, the EOS price has dropped 22% on the day
Block.one made history by raising $ 4 billion in cryptocurrency to provide EOS coins, a blockchain built to compete with Ethereum, and other smart contract networks. Block.one’s main project is EOS. Before Block.one and EOS, Larimer was involved in blockchain-based social media publishing service Steem and Bitshares.
He announced in a short post posted on Voice, a social media initiative founded by Block.one.
Former EOS CTO said:
“I have worked with Brendan and Block.one for the past 4 years and am proud of the EOSIO software I was able to create and launch with the help of an extremely talented group of engineers. Alas, all good things must come to an end. As of December 31, 2020, I have resigned my position as CTO of Block.one.”
While the EOS co-founder is resigning at Block.one, he aims to continue working on decentralized technology:
“I will continue on my mission to create a free market, voluntary solutions for securing life, liberty, property, and justice for all. I do not know exactly what is next, but I am leaning toward building more censorship-resistant technologies. I have come to believe that you cannot provide “liberty as a service” and therefore I will focus my attention on creating tools that people can use to secure their own freedom.”
Larmier has not mentioned whether he will stop working on EOS in general. Many in the crypto space speculate that he will next focus his efforts on decentralized finance, which will match his ambitions in developing anti-censorship technology.
EOS price has of course fallen on this news, suggesting that Larimer is a popular figure and is sometimes seen as the face of the project. EOS is currently the worst-performing crypto asset in the top 100 by market cap. This altcoin is down 22% over the past 24 hours, trading around $ 2.8.
