CoinMarketCap Ventures into Reality TV with ‘Killer Whales’ Competition Series

CoinMarketCap, a leading cryptocurrency price tracking website, is making a foray into reality television with the launch of a new competition series called “Killer Whales.” Drawing inspiration from the popular TV show “Shark Tank,” the new program is being developed in collaboration with Web3 entertainment firm Hello Labs.

The new show aims to provide a platform for entrepreneurs in the crypto space to pitch their ideas to a panel of “Killer Whale” judges, who will comprise entrepreneurs, influencers, and founders of Web3 companies. Selected applicants will undergo several interview rounds in Hollywood, California, with filming set to begin in June.

Jonathan Isaac, Chief Marketing Officer at CoinMarketCap, expressed his excitement about the show in a press release, stating that “Killer Whales” will bring the entrepreneurial spirit of the Web3 space to viewers worldwide. Hello Labs’ CEO, Sander Gortjes, explained that the company aims to introduce the next billion users to Web3 by entertaining and educating them about crypto.

The launch of “Killer Whales” and other Web3-related television shows reflects the increasing interest in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies among mainstream media consumers. The co-creator of “Rick and Morty,” Dan Harmon, is set to release a show called “Krapopolis” on Fox in 2023, which introduced its Krap Chicken non-fungible token (NFT) collection in August.

At the same time, other NFT collections are looking to expand their intellectual property (IP) across various media formats. Web3 community NounsDAO has greenlit proposals for a feature-length film and TV series, while the NFT collection Doodles recently acquired the Emmy-nominated animation studio Golden Wolf.

The crypto and Web3 space has come a long way from its early days as a niche interest for tech enthusiasts. As the industry continues to gain mainstream acceptance and attention, we can expect to see more crypto-themed content across a range of media formats. With “Killer Whales” set to make its debut on major streaming platforms and Hello Labs’ on-demand Hello TV service, the show has the potential to introduce even more people to the exciting world of crypto and Web3.
