China Telecom partners with Conflux Network to develop blockchain-enabled SIM cards

China Telecom, the second-largest wireless carrier in China, has recently partnered with Conflux Network to develop blockchain-enabled SIM cards, called BSIM. The announcement was made by Conflux Network on their Twitter account, which stated that the BSIM product would be the largest blockchain hardware product ever seen globally and will involve the most users and applications.

The BSIM card will integrate Conflux’s Tree-graph, dual proof-of-stake, and proof-of-work technology, enabling the highest system performance for any blockchain in the world. It will store and manage user’s public and private keys in the card and carry out digital signatures in a way that the private key does not exit the card. Additionally, the BSIM card can also allow encrypted storage, key retrieval, and other operations.

The pilot program for the BSIM card will be launched in Hong Kong later this year, which will be the first-of-its-kind globally. This initiative aims to lower the barriers to entry for Web3 and the Metaverse, making it easier for users to access and store digital assets securely.

According to the announcement, the R&D phase for the BSIM card is complete, and it is already connected to Conflux’s main network in testing. The prototype has storage and sending functions for digital assets, which is a significant step forward in the development of blockchain technology.

This partnership between China Telecom and Conflux Network is a significant move for both the telecommunications and blockchain industries. The BSIM card has the potential to revolutionize the way digital assets are stored and managed, making it more accessible and secure for a broader audience.

Furthermore, the integration of blockchain technology into SIM cards has the potential to transform the telecommunications industry. This initiative could potentially provide a secure and transparent system for the exchange of data, making it easier for businesses to operate and communicate more efficiently.

The development of the BSIM card by China Telecom and Conflux Network is a significant milestone for the blockchain industry, paving the way for a more secure and accessible future for digital assets. We look forward to seeing how this new technology will be received and used in the coming years.
