Chiliz partnership with Lagardère Sports and Entertainment Set to Bring Fan Tokens to NFL and MLB Franchises

Blockchain firm Chiliz partnered with Lagardere Sports and Entertainment. Lagardere will present Chiliz and Socios.com to new sports teams, leagues and sports federations.

In a press release published on the Chiliz Medium page on Monday (February 17, 2020), the blockchain sports company announced a partnership deal with the global marketing agency Lagardère Sports and Entertainment. The deal is expected to facilitate the push of the firm’s blockchain-based fan token (CHZ) into mainstream sports across the U.S. and Europe.

The partnership will see Lagardère Sports develop new strategic partnerships for Socios.com, the world’s first fan voting & rewards mobile app, from their worldwide network of athletes, clubs, federations and sports leagues, including six French soccer clubs, 16 German soccer teams together with a roster of MLB & NFL players such as Eric Fisher, Terrell Suggs & Kendall Fuller from Superbowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs.

The agreement between Socios.com and Lagardère Sports – exclusive to France – allows Lagardère Sports to offer sports rights holders across the world the opportunity to tokenize and monetize their fans’ loyalty, wherever they may be in the world.

Lagardère Sports’ also has the urge to become the leading agency on blockchain. Through this collaboration, it becomes a first sports marketing agency that positions itself at the cutting edge of technological innovations and its huge wish to change the sports industry.

Per Lagardere’s quarterly reports, the company saw over $435 million in annual profits at the end of Q3 2019. Legardere has contracts with athletes in the NFL, MLB and professional golf. Dreyfus claims that Chiliz already has 120,000 users and hinted at more potential future partnerships that could help increase its user base:

“This strategic partnership is the first one to be announced for Chiliz, with a leading sports agency, but aims to partners with leading telecom operators, major tech corporations, phone makers and media groups.”

Chiliz Spearheading Blockchain Adoption in Sports

As previously reported by AZCoin News, Chiliz and its Socios.com platform has been at the forefront of using crypto tokens to promote fan engagement for popular European football clubs. Teams like FC Barcelona, PSG, Galatasaray, and Juventus among others already have fan tokens in partnership with Chiliz.
