Chainlink Automation Integrated on Optimism to Drive Scalability and Reliability

Chainlink, the renowned Web3 services platform, has recently announced the integration of Chainlink Automation on Optimism, a highly efficient Layer 2 (L2) blockchain developed by Ethereum creators. The integration has garnered interest from several notable projects, including BarnBridge, DeFiEdge, Lyra, and Pickle Finance, who are already incorporating Chainlink Automation to reliably trigger crucial smart contract functions on Optimism.

The introduction of Chainlink Automation brings hyper-reliable smart contract automation capabilities to developers, paralleling Optimism’s provision of seamless scalability for DeFi developers. By granting developers the ability to execute DevOps maintenance tasks, Chainlink Automation empowers them to construct more advanced decentralized applications (dApps), which, in turn, will attract a greater number of users to the Optimism ecosystem.

Smit Vachhani, Head of DeFi Partnerships at OP Labs, emphasized the significance of Chainlink Automation’s launch: “The launch of Chainlink Automation will help Optimism developers trigger DevOps tasks, provide stronger security guarantees, and more easily scale their dApps. With the native integration of Chainlink Automation’s smart contract automation service, developers can build advanced features and unlock new use cases that help grow the Optimism ecosystem.”

Chainlink Automation is a decentralized automation service renowned for its exceptional performance. Developers can utilize Chainlink Automation to securely and cost-effectively monitor automation logic off-chain, subsequently triggering on-chain transactions to execute smart contract functions when predefined conditions are met.

Johann Eid, VP of Go-To-Market at Chainlink Labs, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the Optimism ecosystem: “We’re pleased to support the Optimism ecosystem with the native integration of Chainlink Automation, enabling developers to build highly scalable smart contract applications that are decentralized end-to-end. By integrating Chainlink Automation, Optimism developers can build more advanced applications that help drive adoption of smart contract technology over the long term.”

This integration follows Optimism’s September 2021 integration of Chainlink Price Feeds, which played a pivotal role in the rapid growth witnessed by Optimism in terms of both developer participation and end-user engagement within its DeFi ecosystem. Leveraging the same decentralized network of trusted node operators that currently secures billions of dollars through Chainlink Price Feeds, Optimism developers now have access to highly performant smart contract automation facilitated by Chainlink Automation.

Chainlink is widely recognized as the industry standard for constructing, accessing, and selling oracle services essential for hybrid smart contracts across any blockchain. The Chainlink oracle networks establish a reliable connection between smart contracts and external APIs, enabling the utilization of secure off-chain computations and facilitating the development of feature-rich applications. With Chainlink’s involvement, billions of dollars in assets are secured across diverse sectors, including DeFi, insurance, and gaming, as the platform offers global enterprises and prominent data providers a universal gateway to all blockchains.

Optimism, as a part of the Optimism Collective, strives to redistribute power to humanity through its cost-effective, high-speed L2 blockchain that closely mirrors the functionality of Ethereum. As the first operating company within the Optimism Collective, OP Labs is dedicated to scaling Ethereum’s technology and principles by constructing the most secure, stable, and decentralized blockchain.
