Chainlink and Arbitrum Partner to Launch Chainlink VRF on Arbitrum One, Advancing Blockchain Randomness
In a significant development for the blockchain industry, Chainlink and Arbitrum have announced their collaboration to introduce Chainlink VRF (Verifiable Random Function) on Arbitrum One. This partnership brings together Chainlink’s expertise as the industry-standard Web3 services platform and Arbitrum’s position as the most widely used Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum dApp development.
Chainlink VRF has gained recognition as the leading random number generator (RNG) in the blockchain space. With over 15.8 million request transactions processed, it currently provides verifiable randomness to more than 6,300 unique smart contracts across multiple blockchains. Its capabilities enable smart contract developers to create provably fair and scalable applications, particularly in the realms of NFTs and gaming.

The integration of Chainlink VRF on Arbitrum One holds significant promise. Ethereum Layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum play a crucial role in relieving transaction congestion on the Ethereum network while maintaining the necessary security standards. The optimization of Chainlink VRF to leverage the speed of Arbitrum opens up exciting possibilities for various use cases and further advancements in the blockchain industry.
Arbitrum One, known for its high-throughput, low-cost infrastructure for dApps, is an optimistic rollup solution for Ethereum. The integration of Chainlink VRF on Arbitrum One provides developers with access to the industry’s leading RNG solution, enhancing the capabilities and potential for decentralized applications.
A.J. Warner, Chief Strategy Officer at Offchain Labs, expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, emphasizing the transparency and security benefits that Chainlink VRF brings to Arbitrum users. Both teams look forward to the innovation and opportunities that will arise from this partnership, aiming to continue their joint efforts in the coming years.
This announcement builds upon the previous launch of Chainlink Automation on Arbitrum One in December 2022, which provided developers with reliable smart contract triggers for advanced dApp development. The introduction of Chainlink VRF on Arbitrum One further strengthens the ecosystem and opens up new possibilities for decentralized applications.
Arbitrum One, developed by Offchain Labs, serves as a prominent Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution. Launched in August 2021, it offers ultra-fast, low-cost transactions with security derived from Ethereum. Its EVM-compatible mainnet beta, with over 65% TVL in the Layer 2 segment, has already attracted more than 400 DeFi and NFT projects. In August 2022, Arbitrum One upgraded to the Nitro tech stack, enabling fraud proofs over the core engine of Geth, further enhancing its capabilities.
The collaboration between Chainlink and Arbitrum holds great promise for the blockchain industry, fostering innovation and driving the adoption of decentralized applications. As the integration of Chainlink VRF on Arbitrum One unfolds, the ecosystem can expect exciting developments and advancements in the coming months.
