Cardano Network Unveils ‘Valentine’ Upgrade: A Major Milestone in its Evolutio

Input Output, the blockchain infrastructure provider, has made an exciting announcement for Cardano enthusiasts that is sure to put a smile on their faces. The team at Input Output has announced a major upgrade for the Cardano network, dubbed the “Valentine” upgrade, that will bring new Plutus SECP cryptographic primitives to the network.

The Valentine upgrade is a significant milestone in the evolution of the Cardano network and marks a new chapter in its journey. The upgrade will take place on February 14th, making it a perfect time to celebrate the network’s growth and progress. The Input Output, Cardano Foundation, and EMURGO technical teams have collaborated closely to submit an update proposal to upgrade the Cardano mainnet to protocol v8.

Stake pool operators (SPOs) and Cardano node users are encouraged to upgrade to the latest version, 1.35.5, to ensure compatibility with the new protocol. The upgrade is expected to bring a range of benefits to the Cardano community, including greater interoperability and secure cross-chain dApp development.

The new built-in functions in Plutus will enhance its security and make it easier for developers to work with other blockchains. The upgrade will also support signatures such as ECDSA and Schnorr, making it even more secure for developers to work on. Preparations for this upgrade have been underway for some time, and over 80% of block-producing nodes are already running the required new node.

IOG and the Cardano Foundation are dedicated to keeping the community informed about the progress of the upgrade and encourage everyone to stay updated through their channels. The Valentine upgrade is an exciting moment for the Cardano community and will bring a new level of security and interoperability to the network.

As AZCoin News reported on Feb 8, The Cardano network is experiencing significant growth in staked tokens. Over 400 million Cardano (ADA) tokens have been staked since early December, bringing the total number of staked ADA tokens to 25.5 billion. This represents an impressive 72% of all ADA tokens currently in circulation.
