He went on to say that one can choose to become a Bitcoin maximalist now or later, indicating that Bitcoin’s importance will only continue to grow. Blockstream, the company that Back heads, is focused on developing technologies that make it easier to use Bitcoin for payments and remittances, as well as supporting the adoption of Bitcoin as legal currency in El Salvador. It is also involved in the issuance of volcanic bonds secured by Bitcoin.
Bitcoin maximalists believe that Bitcoin is the only true cryptocurrency and that other digital assets are merely imitators. They argue that Bitcoin’s decentralized nature, limited supply, and high level of security make it the only viable option as a global digital currency.
