Binance Charity’s $3 Million Aid Initiative Brings Relief to Moroccan Earthquake Victims
In the wake of the recent devastating earthquake in Morocco, Binance Charity has stepped up with a generous initiative to assist those affected by the catastrophe. The blockchain-based charity organization has announced plans to airdrop up to $3 million worth of Binance Coin (BNB) directly to Binance users residing in the affected regions. This philanthropic effort aims to provide much-needed financial relief to individuals and communities grappling with the aftermath of the natural disaster.
Marrakesh-Safi Province, which bore the brunt of the earthquake’s impact, will be the primary focus of Binance Charity’s relief efforts. Users who completed Proof of Address (POA) verification before September 9, 2023, in this province, will each receive $100 in BNB directly into their Binance accounts. This proactive approach ensures that those already verified can access funds swiftly to address their immediate needs.

Recognizing that some affected individuals may not have completed POA verification prior to the specified date, Binance Charity has extended its support. For users in Marrakesh-Safi Province who complete POA verification between September 9, 2023, and September 30, 2023, a donation of $25 in BNB will be credited directly to their Binance accounts.
The outreach efforts do not stop there. Binance Charity is also reaching out to its active transacting users across Morocco, even if they reside outside the earthquake-affected areas. Each of these users will receive an airdrop of $10 in BNB. This comprehensive approach is expected to benefit approximately 70,000 Binance users living in Morocco.
The funds for these relief efforts are set to start reaching users on September 12, 2023, providing much-needed assistance at a critical time. Natural disasters often disrupt traditional banking systems precisely when individuals and communities require additional financial resources for medical supplies, food, and essential items. Crypto transfers are emerging as a powerful tool for delivering swift, cost-effective, and transparent financial aid to disaster victims.
Binance’s founder and CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), expressed his sympathy for the Moroccan people and the company’s commitment to making a meaningful impact. He stated, “The impact of the earthquake on the Moroccan people is devastating. We hope we can bring some support to those affected. For Moroccan users who receive these donations but are unimpacted by the earthquake, we ask them to pass the funds on to those most in need.”
In addition to direct user donations, Binance Charity has initiated a public donation address that welcomes contributions from anyone who wishes to help. The total cryptocurrency amount received at this address will be donated to an authorized NGO (to be named soon) dedicated to assisting those in need. Donations to the Emergency Earthquake Appeal are accepted in various cryptocurrencies, including BNB, BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, or BUSD.
Binance Charity’s initiative not only underscores the power of blockchain technology for social good but also demonstrates the crypto industry’s potential to provide rapid and efficient disaster relief. As Morocco continues to recover from the earthquake’s impact, Binance’s generous support is poised to make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by this natural disaster.
