Axie Infinity Makes its Debut on Apple’s App Store as Ronin Network Launches Mavis Market

Sky Mavis, the creator of the popular NFT game Axie Infinity, has announced the launch of the card game “Axie Infinity: Origins” on the Apple App Store in select Latin American and Southeast Asian countries. Previously, the game was only available in limited regions on the Google Play store and through the company’s Mavis Hub.

The countries where users can now download and install the game via the App Store include Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

Jeffrey Zirlin, co-founder of Sky Mavis, revealed that they have been working with Apple for about a year to obtain approval for the release of “Axie Infinity: Origins” on the Apple Store.

The company also unveiled the upcoming launch of Mavis Market, an NFT marketplace built on the company’s Ronin blockchain. Starting from May 17th, several collections from third-party game developers or dApps deployed on Ronin will be available on Mavis Market. The company also plans to introduce a souvenir store.

The Ronin Network has announced the launch of its first NFT marketplace called Mavis Market, which will utilize RON as the currency across the network. “Sky Mavis remains committed to building a player-owned digital nation and is delighted to collaborate with app stores to expand the ecosystem for the new Lunacian generation,” said CEO of Sky Mavis, Nguyen Thanh Trung. Zirlin expressed hope that Sky Mavis will experience significant growth as iPhone users start downloading the game.

According to Sky Mavis’ estimates, “Axie Infinity: Origins” is currently the “most-played Web3 game” with over 1.5 million downloads, and 70% of users are referred by family and friends. Therefore, its presence on the Apple Store is crucial for their growth.

From a transactional and adoption perspective, no other Web3 game or NFT collection has achieved the success of Axie Infinity in the past.

During the pandemic period of 2020-2021, Axie Infinity not only introduced millions of people to the Play-to-Earn gaming model with a $4 billion trading volume, according to CryptoSlam data, but it also helped many people in the Philippines earn a living by playing the game.

The price of AXS has increased by over 10% following the news of the game’s support on the App Store.

With the introduction of Mavis Market, the value proposition of the RON token is further enhanced:

  1. Used as gas fees for transactions.
  2. Staking rewards.
  3. 0.05% from Katana DEX fees.
  4. 0.5% from Mavis Market fees.

Creators also benefit from Mavis Market’s flexible royalty fee mechanism. Specifically, NFT artists can customize the royalty fee according to their preferences, rather than accepting a fixed fee as mandated by other marketplaces.
