Awaiting Short-Term Holders to Determine Market’s Path: CryptoQuant

As the cryptocurrency market continues its roller-coaster ride, a fascinating pattern has emerged that has only been witnessed twice in the past seven years. According to CryptoQuant, a renowned blockchain analytics platform, this unique trend involves the interaction of key indicators on the chart, hinting at a potential bullish scenario ahead.

The chart in question showcases the SOPR (Spent Output Profit Ratio) combined with the 90-day and 365-day moving average lines. These indicators provide insights into the behavior of cryptocurrency holders, their profitability, and the potential market sentiment.

The SOPR, represented by the white line on the chart, is an essential metric that indicates whether holders are selling their coins at a profit or loss on average. A value above 1 suggests that, on average, holders are selling their assets for a profit. Recent data shows that the 365-day moving average (in blue) saw a rise in the SOPR, indicating a surge in profitable sell-offs.

The 90-day moving average (in yellow), which experienced a significant spike during the 2023 bull run, is now approaching baseline and is closing in on the blue line. Interestingly, a similar tendency was observed in 2016 and 2019.

Back in 2016, the baseline initially served as support, and from there, a remarkable bull run commenced. Conversely, during the second observation in 2019, the market experienced a downward break, resulting in a grueling 160-day bearish sentiment before launching into another impressive bull run.

Now, all eyes are on whether the cryptocurrency price can surpass its overhead barrier at $32,000, which would pave the way for the replication of the 2016 pattern. However, the key obstacle standing in the way of the bulls at the moment is the resistance at the $480-$500 range.

Market analysts and enthusiasts alike are closely monitoring this chart pattern, as it could offer crucial insights into potential future trends. Should the 2016 pattern repeat itself, investors may witness a period of sustained bullish momentum.
