AMC Theaters has finally added support for Dogecoin and Shiba Inu after months of anticipation

The largest cinema chain globally, AMC Theaters, has finally started accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) after teasing the community for the past several months.

Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) now accepted by AMC Theaters

The announcement was made by CEO Adam Aron on Twitter earlier this Thursday.

Aron sent a “special” thank you to crypto payment processor BitPay, which accepts Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.

AMC was initially supposed to add support for two dog coins on its website and mobile app on March 19, but the addition happened over a week before that.

The cinema chain ran polls on Twitter to find out if it should move forward with the integration of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. After hearing a resounding yes from the community, Aron said that his company has started working to enable payments in those two cryptocurrencies.

AMC allowed its customers to pay for tickets and franchises in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and several other cryptocurrencies in November, as ÃCoin News reported.

Aron floated the idea of issuing AMC’s cryptocurrency in November, but the plan is still in the works. In January, the company also entered the NFTs space, giving its shareholders over half a million “I Own AMC” NFTs.

At the time of writing, the price of these two meme coins is nothing special and has even dropped slightly by about 2% in the last 24 hours.
